What happened to your old scratched vinyl records? What do you do with the stash of raffle tickets that didn’t win? How about the plastic bags stuffed in the garage?

Find them in these incredible trash fashion photos taken last Saturday night at Tambi Lane Photography – the first public Rubbish Renewed preview photo session. Not only cutting edge in style, these garments re-envision trash into sustainable, wearable art. Come out tomorrow night (December 2nd) for 1st Friday. You may catch a glimpse of a few pieces making their red carpet debut. Find them around town or at TBD Loft for this year’s Trash Transcendence Community Created Garment.

I love this time of year! More time with family, friends, holiday parties, and the 2nd annual Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show is upon us; just 10 days away. Along with the season’s merrymaking, we can not ignore our increased production of holiday trash. The facts about holiday waste are staggering…
We believe in the power to educate, change, and inspire and want to invite you to come out on Friday night (December 2nd), during the First Friday festivities, to create the 2011 Community Garment. To have a hand in this “show-stopping” number, stop by TBD Loft (upstairs at 856 NW Bond Street), and make a pledge to reduce your consumption and waste this season and for a lifetime.
Don’t miss the Last Saturday at the Old Ironworks Complex! Get a glimpse into this year’s runway show at Studio 3. Tambi Lane Photography will be shooting studio shots of fabulous fashion. See what goes into fashion photography; check out what some designers have done with trash; buy your Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show event tickets; and mingle with sustainably minded community, artists, models, and designers.
How about wearing “rubbish” and getting rewarded! At our second annual Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show we will honor those who wear outfits that are re-fashioned or trash-fashion with a free drink ticket. Don a piece purchased in our last year’s live auction and get into this year’s event for free! Finally, we hope you will join other courageous characters to strut your stuff in our audience runway walk. More than ever we believe transforming trash inspires community for a sustainable earth.

New this year for the Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show is the Accessory Wall. Here are a couple of crazy creations that may be worn on the runway. Materials can come from almost anywhere.
The hat pulls together the beauty and texture of the fall garden. Dried sunflower heads adorn a compostable bowl, a byproduct of the REALMS
healthy lunch program.
The purse was made last year in early November. Piles of campaign brochures filled mailboxes. This piece only represents a small fraction of the waste generated by one person in one household.
Get involve in the creative process of the accessory wall. Add to the artistry of styling for the runway.
UtilituSEW will be hosting the “Rubbish Renewed Accessory Wall” creation this Friday, November 18th from 5-8. We will be playing with ‘trash’ to make wearable jewelry and accessories to potentially pair with the final outfits for the runway shows. Feel free to bring appropriate items to add to the pile of goodies to be reused! Ideas: bottle caps, soda can tabs, tin cans, cereal boxes, six pack holders, glass jar lids, plastic containers/lids… anything else you think would make a rad accessory! This is a free event.
A “peak” into this year’s runway shows. Watch our pre-show photo shoot at Studio 3 by Tambi Lane Photography. The garments featured int he shoot will be available for purchase in our live auction at THE RUBBISH RENEWED ECO FASHION SHOW. Location – Old Ironworks Complex at 50 Scott Street (same area as Sparrow Bakery).
Participate in the 2nd annual RUBBISH RENEWED “Community Garment” creation at TBD Loft (located at 856 NW Bond Street, suite 2-upstairs) during “First Friday”.
